Can you play Castlevania: Curse of Darkness in your browser?
Yes, with a disc image you own. Play! reports Castlevania: Curse of Darkness as fully playable, and Play! runs in a browser. Use our browser emulator. Keep in mind that the tracker covers Play! on every platform, and its browser version is described by the project as an experiment, so results in a browser can be worse than on a desktop.

Which Castlevania: Curse of Darkness disc should you use?
The Play! compatibility tracker has one entry for Curse of Darkness: the North American disc, SLUS-21168, marked Playable. It was last tested on August 30, 2020, and the note says it was confirmed as fully playable with Vulkan. The tracker lists no known issues for it.
Because only this one disc has been reported, the tracker cannot tell you how a European or Japanese disc behaves, so the North American one is the only version with a result to go on. The tracker covers Play! on all platforms and this report dates from 2020, so a browser build may do worse than what is listed.

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness controls in the browser emulator
Play!.js is played with the keyboard. Its default layout maps the PS2 controller like this; the browser build sets up no gamepad bindings by default. Click the game screen once before you start: the emulator listens for key presses on its game screen, so keys only register while it has focus.

About Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (PS2)
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is an action role-playing game from Konami, released on both PlayStation 2 and Xbox. North American players got it on November 1, 2005, Japan followed on November 24, 2005 (PlayStation 2 only there), and Europe on February 17, 2006. Koji Igarashi produced it, and artist Ayami Kojima and composer Michiru Yamane returned from earlier entries. It counts as the fourth 3D game in the Castlevania series and follows Lament of Innocence from 2003.
The story is set in 1479, three years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Hector, a Devil Forgemaster who once served Dracula and later turned on him, has left that life behind to live among humans. When his fiancée, Rosaly, is executed after a witchcraft accusation, he discovers that a rival forgemaster named Isaac arranged it, and he goes after him for revenge. Wikipedia describes the reviews as mixed to positive. Journalists praised the combat, the Innocent Devil system and the music, while the environments were often called dull and repetitive. Metacritic averages 74 out of 100.

How Castlevania: Curse of Darkness plays
The gameplay mixes 3D action role-playing with hack-and-slash fighting. The hero, Hector, is not a Belmont, so he does not wield the Vampire Killer whip. Instead he can equip a wide range of weapons: one-handed and two-handed swords, spears, axes, brass knuckles, and special weapons that run from tonfas to gatling guns. Every weapon type has its own set of combos, and as you find stronger weapons the number of standard and finishing attacks you can perform grows. Once you finish the game, an extra mode lets you play as Trevor Belmont with the Vampire Killer and a set of subweapons that includes the stopwatch, cross, holy water, axe and knife.
The structure differs from Lament of Innocence, which sent you to separate stages through a central hallway. Here you explore a fuller world with a complete castle map, closer to Symphony of the Night, although the game still runs on the earlier map engine and not the square-based grid of the 2D entries. A lot of the adventure happens outside Dracula's castle, in forests, mountains, temples, aqueducts, ruins and villages across Europe.
Hector also gets help from Innocent Devils, demonic creatures he creates himself through his Devil Forgery skill. They fight enemies and help solve puzzles, and they level up and evolve alongside him.

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness emulator FAQ
Is there a Castlevania: Curse of Darkness website to play online?
We are not aware of an official way to play Castlevania: Curse of Darkness online. What exists are browser-based PS2 emulators, such as Play!.js, that run a disc image of the game you own. We do not host or link to game files.
Do I need a PS2 BIOS to run Castlevania: Curse of Darkness?
Not with Play!. It emulates the PS2 system software at a high level, so no BIOS file is required.
Which version of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness works best in a browser emulator?
Only the North American disc (SLUS-21168) has a report on the Play! tracker, and it is marked Playable, confirmed as fully playable with Vulkan in 2020. No other region has a result, and browser performance may be worse than the tracker's.
Is Curse of Darkness part of a series, and what came before it?
It belongs to the Castlevania series and is the fourth 3D entry, following Castlevania: Lament of Innocence from 2003. Its story takes place in 1479, three years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, and it features Hector, a former Devil Forgemaster.
Can I play as a Belmont in Curse of Darkness?
Not at first, since the hero is Hector. Wikipedia says finishing the game unlocks an extra mode starring Trevor Belmont, who carries the Vampire Killer whip along with a set of classic subweapons.
Can I save my progress in Curse of Darkness?
The tracker note does not mention saving. In the browser version, saves are kept only in memory while the page is open, so they are lost when you close or reload it.
Was Curse of Darkness adapted into other media?
Yes. Wikipedia lists a two-volume manga adaptation by Kou Sasakura, published in Japan from 2005 to 2006. Hector and Isaac also show up in season two of the animated Castlevania TV show, according to the same article.
