PS2 emulator FAQ

Do I need a PS2 BIOS file?

No. The emulator is built on Play!, which emulates the PS2 system software at a high level, so no BIOS file is required.

Is my disc image uploaded?

No. The emulator reads the file you pick inside your browser. In our own test, loading a disc image made no network requests at all, and the game still started with the network switched off.

Which file types can I load?

ISO, CSO, CHD, ISZ, BIN and ELF. ELF files must use a lowercase .elf extension.

Where do I get games?

Use a disc image of a game you own. We do not provide, sell or link to game files.

Which browsers work?

A recent version of Chrome or Firefox. The emulator needs features (SharedArrayBuffer and WebAssembly threads) that older browsers lack.

Why does my game not start or run slowly?

Browser PS2 emulation is experimental, and the Play! project describes its web version as an experiment that is not meant to play every game. Check the game's page for its compatibility status before you try.
