How TimeSplitters: Future Perfect plays
The game has a single-player story mode made up of levels, and the story can also be played cooperatively. Beyond that there are several multiplayer options. Wikipedia notes that online play existed in the PS2 and Xbox versions but has since been disabled.
Arcade and Challenge modes let you unlock new characters, weapons and locations, which you can then use in the Mapmaker. You complete missions and league challenges to collect awards, characters and medals, with bronze, silver, gold and platinum medals available. After you complete a mission, progress is saved automatically.
The Mapmaker is a level editor, a feature the series added after the first game. It offers tiles, character spawn points, mode-specific items (a briefcase for a capture-style mode, for instance) and lighting options. You can also add preset groups of up to ten bot characters, and likewise weapon sets. The beginner version limits you to a set number of tiles but allows turrets, weapon spawns and health and armor pickups. The advanced version allows complex maps as long as space is free, with extra tile shapes, backdrop features and options to build detailed story maps of your own.
