Can you play Final Fantasy X-2 in your browser?
Yes, with a disc image you own. Play! reports Final Fantasy X-2 as fully playable, and Play! runs in a browser. Use our browser emulator. Keep in mind that the tracker covers Play! on every platform, and its browser version is described by the project as an experiment, so results in a browser can be worse than on a desktop.

Which Final Fantasy X-2 disc should you use?
The Play! tracker lists three discs. The North American disc (SLUS-20672) is reported as Playable, tested on 2025-12-27, with the note fully playable with good performance. The PAL disc (SLES-51815) is In-game, tested on 2019-07-21: the main menu appears, but a new game opens with a distorted video and a stuttering song, and after sitting through it for over 10 minutes the player reaches gameplay that lags and has stuttering audio.
The Japanese International + Last Mission disc (SLPM-65478) is In-game, tested on 2018-03-20, with no notes. For choosing a disc, the NTSC-U release has the strongest and newest report. Results come from Play! on all platforms, so a browser run may do worse.

Final Fantasy X-2 controls in the browser emulator
Play!.js is played with the keyboard. Its default layout maps the PS2 controller like this; the browser build sets up no gamepad bindings by default. Click the game screen once before you start: the emulator listens for key presses on its game screen, so keys only register while it has focus.

About Final Fantasy X-2 (PS2)
Final Fantasy X-2 is a role-playing game that Square both developed and published on the PlayStation 2. It launched in Japan in March 2003, in North America in November 2003 and in Europe in February 2004. Where most Final Fantasy titles tell a self-contained story, this one is a direct continuation of Final Fantasy X from 2001. Yuna searches for Tidus while trying to keep political tensions in Spira from turning into war.
It was the first game in the series with only three playable characters and an all-female main cast. Wikipedia adds that it was Square's last release before its merger with Enix, and that its music was written by Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi rather than Nobuo Uematsu. The producers wanted a lighter, more upbeat mood than the first game and took cues from magical girl anime for the costume-change battle system.
Critics were generally favorable, though opinions split over the cheerful tone and the reused graphics. Wikipedia reports more than 5.4 million PlayStation 2 copies sold worldwide as of March 2013.

How Final Fantasy X-2 plays
You play Yuna as she travels around Spira. Unlike the first game, you can reach almost every location early through an airship, and the world is not walked in a straight line. The game has five chapters, and each location offers one scenario per chapter. Only a few scenarios are required to advance the main plot, marked as Hotspots, while the rest are optional. Everything counts toward a completion tracker, and reaching 100 percent unlocks a secret ending. A New Game Plus option lets you replay with your items and completion progress kept while character levels reset.
Exploration uses large three-dimensional areas as before, with added jumping, climbing and camera rotation. Sidequests include optional bosses and dungeons and, according to Wikipedia, the most minigames of any Final Fantasy up to that point, such as the shooter Gunner's Gauntlet, the coin game Sphere Break and a blitzball management sim.
Battles use an enhanced Active Time Battle system, where characters and enemies act according to speed and you can interrupt an enemy that is preparing a move. Dresspheres, based on classic Final Fantasy job classes, can be swapped mid-fight through the Garment Grid, changing abilities and granting bonuses. Skills are learned per dressphere using Ability Points.

Final Fantasy X-2 emulator FAQ
Is there a Final Fantasy X-2 website to play online?
We are not aware of an official way to play Final Fantasy X-2 online. What exists are browser-based PS2 emulators, such as Play!.js, that run a disc image of the game you own. We do not host or link to game files.
Do I need a PS2 BIOS to run Final Fantasy X-2?
Not with Play!. It emulates the PS2 system software at a high level, so no BIOS file is required.
Which version of Final Fantasy X-2 works best in a browser emulator?
The North American disc (SLUS-20672) is the one reported as Playable on the Play! tracker, with good performance noted. The PAL and Japanese International + Last Mission discs are rated In-game. Tracker results cover all platforms, so browser performance may be lower.
Is Final Fantasy X-2 a direct sequel?
Yes. Wikipedia describes it as continuing the story of Final Fantasy X, which is unusual for the series. It follows Yuna as she looks for Tidus. The developers disliked the X-2 name at first, but accepted it because the story could not be the next numbered game.
What is the International + Last Mission version?
It is an expanded edition released on the PlayStation 2 in Japan in 2004. Wikipedia says it adds two dresspheres, a Last Mission at Yadonoki Tower and the ability to capture monsters and characters, and that it was never released outside Japan.
Can I save my game in Final Fantasy X-2 in a browser?
Yes. In the browser version, saves are kept only in memory while the page is open, so they are lost when you close or reload it.
Who made Final Fantasy X-2?
Square developed and published it. Its publisher was Square Enix in North America and Electronic Arts for the PAL release. Wikipedia says the development team was a third the size of the one behind the first game.
