Can you play Tekken Tag Tournament in your browser?
Yes, with a disc image you own. Play! reports Tekken Tag Tournament as fully playable, and Play! runs in a browser. Use our browser emulator. Keep in mind that the tracker covers Play! on every platform, and its browser version is described by the project as an experiment, so results in a browser can be worse than on a desktop.

Which Tekken Tag Tournament disc should you use?
Two PS2 discs are on the Play! tracker, and both are listed as Playable. The NTSC-U disc (SLUS-20001) was tested on June 26, 2020. Its report says most visual issues are absent with Vulkan, but the game is slow.
The NTSC-J disc (SLPS-20015) was tested on March 21, 2023. It is called fully playable, though it should run faster because of constantly high main CPU usage. No PAL disc is listed. Both tests come from Play! on all platforms, so browser speed may be lower, and the slow speed noted for both discs is worth keeping in mind.

How to play Tekken Tag Tournament in your browser
- Make a disc image (for example an ISO) from your own copy of Tekken Tag Tournament. We do not provide game files.
- If you have a choice of versions, the NTSC-U release (SLUS-20001) has the best reported result.
- Open our browser emulator in a recent version of Chrome or Firefox.

Tekken Tag Tournament controls in the browser emulator
Play!.js is played with the keyboard. Its default layout maps the PS2 controller like this; the browser build sets up no gamepad bindings by default. Click the game screen once before you start: the emulator listens for key presses on its game screen, so keys only register while it has focus.

About Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2)
Tekken Tag Tournament began as a 1999 arcade fighting game developed and published by Namco, and it became a launch title for the PlayStation 2 in North America and Europe in 2000. It is a spin-off of the Tekken series and is not part of the main storyline. The game includes nearly all characters from earlier Tekken games and adds a two-on-two tag team mechanic.
Wikipedia notes that the arcade game used Namco's System 12 hardware, as Tekken 3 did, with a 32-bit engine, whereas the PS2 port got upgraded graphics. The home version appeared in 2000. In North America it was published by Namco Hometek, and in PAL regions by Sony Computer Entertainment. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 followed in 2011. That November, a remastered edition called Tekken Tag Tournament HD shipped on the PlayStation 3 inside the Tekken Hybrid package.

How Tekken Tag Tournament plays
Fights use the mechanics of Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, but each side is a team of two characters. At any point you can tag in your partner, which lets the resting fighter recover some health. Tags can be worked into combos or special throws. When a resting fighter's life bar flashes, tagging that character in gives a temporary boost in strength.
The rule that shapes strategy is that a player loses a round when just one of the two fighters runs out of health, so you cannot simply sacrifice one partner. If time runs out, the team with the most total health remaining wins the round. The roster has over 35 characters from Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, plus a boss named Unknown, who can imitate any character's fighting style at random during a match.
The PS2 version added improved graphics and extra modes. In 1-on-1 mode, each player chooses a single fighter. In Team Battle, players pick up to eight fighters and use tag rules, with each new character replacing one that was defeated. There is also Tekken Bowl, a bowling minigame in which each character has different attributes. Wikipedia notes that the console version runs on a newer engine, has updated music and backgrounds, lets you play Unknown, and handles some moves differently from the arcade version.
