Which Castlevania: Lament of Innocence disc should you use?
One disc is recorded on the Play! tracker: the NTSC-U release (SLUS-20733), listed as Playable and tested in August 2020. The report says it was confirmed as fully playable with Vulkan, one of the graphics backends in Play!.
That wording means the result was confirmed on a specific renderer, so it may not carry over to others. The tracker covers Play! on every platform, so browser results may differ. No PAL or Japanese disc has a report on the tracker, so if you own one, there is no data about how it behaves.

About Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PS2)
Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo developed Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, which Konami put out on the PlayStation 2 in 2003. It was the series' debut on that console and its third 3D outing. Per Wikipedia, Japan and North America got it in late 2003, with Europe and Australia following in early 2004.
Chronologically it is the earliest chapter of the series. The story is set in 1094 and covers the origins of the long feud between the Belmont clan of vampire hunters and Dracula. You play Leon Belmont, who searches a vampire's castle for the fiancee who was abducted. Reviews were generally positive, and writers liked the origin story, the play, the music, and the visuals, while some critics disliked the repetitive level design and the amount of backtracking.

How Castlevania: Lament of Innocence plays
You lead Leon through a castle full of monsters, puzzles, hidden items and rooms, and bosses. Exploration is open-ended: a room near the entrance holds portals to the five main areas, all available from the start. Beating each area's boss unlocks the final area. A shop on the castle grounds sells health restoratives and items that improve stats such as strength and defense.
Leon starts with the Whip of Alchemy, a gift from the shopkeeper Rinaldo. Three more whips can be found, each guarded by an elemental boss: Ice, Lightning, and Fire. Near the end it becomes the Vampire Killer. He can also combine a sub-weapon (a knife, axe, cross, crystal, or holy water) with any of seven orbs for a special attack, and he learns techniques and magic along the way.
Two more characters can be unlocked. Pumpkin uses Leon's whip and one sub-weapon, starts with all whip and defensive skills learned, and does more damage than Leon. Joachim, a vampire who appears earlier as a boss, fights with five flying swords. He cannot use relics, has no inventory or shop access, but has two magic attacks in place of sub-weapons.
